Merely picked up Business firm of Leaves
Don't know anything about it other than what I've just read in the intro. I'chiliad excited, intrigued, and a scrap freaked out, I have to say. For anyone who's read it, is it every bit good every bit all the raving reviews on the back of the cover say it is?
"House of Leaves is dizzying in every respect."
Shoot, I promise so!

A difficult read for certain - don't skip the footnotes, and put in the effort to follow them (which will require flipping dorsum and along multiple pages). The format tin be dizzying but the story is engrossing and terrifying. Could perchance bulldoze you lot crazy - but totally worth it.
level 2
For real, DON'T SKIP THE FOOTNOTES. They not just add to the story, but too to the full general feeling of mystery, isolation and claustrophobia. The everything is necessary.
level 2
I've tried to cease this book 3 times but it totally triggers my anxiety from the descriptions. I get style too emotionally involved. I love it.

Don't feel like you lot have to interrupt the narrative immediately and jump off on every tangent though. You lot can place a bookmark or make a mental note to come up back to it. Office of the fun is figuring out how to read it.

Using 2 bookmarks helps a lot!

A difficult read for sure
I know what you mean, but I don't call back it's a difficult read in the manner people usually use that term - say Gravity's Rainbow or Ulysses, something very literary and dense that makes no concessions to readability or coherent plot.
I agree that it is very literally difficult to read though in the sense that it's got lots of intertwined narratives (so easy to forget your place) and plays games with fonts!

I was sitting in my kitchen trying to piece together the notes from his mom and writing out all the capital letters on a slice of scrap paper when it hit me: I now look just every bit insane as everyone in this book. The most mind blowing thing a book has ever done to me.
Absolutely fantastic.

HAHA! My blood brother was reading it on a airplane and our friend who was sitting behind him stuck his face thru the infinite between the seats and said " hey!"
My brother nearly shot through the plane's roof! he screamed and i laughed and so dang hard.
nosotros were staying in side past side hotel rooms with a balcony that was sorta connected only had a partition betwixt. our friend did it again! My poor brother prob lost a few years off his life getting jump scared (on accident) while reading this book.

That volume really is like some sort of distilled madness lol
level 2
I'chiliad looking up almost everything I don't even so know almost or empathise, which admittedly at that place'due south a lot of, and most of that seems to be in the footnotes... but, so far I'g finding it very rewarding. I detect myself re-reading passages multiple times, while simultaneously trying to research whatever's existence covered. But it isn't tedious, which is really absurd! I feel like I've already learned more from the first four capacity than I have from the terminal three books I've read, combined. And in a fictional volume, no less. Wild. Thanks for your comment :)

I disagree. Skip equally much equally you want to get through the volume. Some sections are intentionally painful (run-on sentences, nonsensical, etc). The narrator even says he picked through the book, skimming here and there, at 1 point.

Non only that. The album is also about coming to terms with her father'due south decease. It's brillant from offset to finish.

Read information technology years ago. Wish I knew this then!
